Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) that recognises a student's current skills and experience, regardless of when and where that learning occurred.

Students can base their application for Recognition of Prior Learning on any combination of formal or informal training and education, work experience or general life experience.

Applying for Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for Recognition of Prior Learning are based on whole competencies.

Students should contact the Manager at manager@goldcoaststudy.com for more information on the application process.

To apply for Recognition of Prior Learning, students will need to complete the Recognition of Prior Learning form and will also be required to provide supporting evidence.

Supporting Evidence required for Recognition of Prior Learning

Evidence required to support an application for Recognition of Prior Learning may include:

Right to Appeal against unsuccessful Recognition of Prior Learning Applications

Unsuccessful applicants have a right to formally appeal their Recognition of Prior Learning assessment through the GCLC Appeals Process.

Mutual Recognition and Credit Transfer

In addition to Recognition of Prior Learning, there are several other processes that allow students to have their current skills and experience recognised.

Mutual Recognition

Mutual recognition is a process that recognises qualifications or statements of attainment issued by another Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

To receive credit for previous study, students need to be enrolled in the program and need to provide certified copies of their Qualifications, Statement of Attainment or Statement of Results to Gold Coast Learning Centre.

Please Note: Students cannot receive credit for their entire course — at least one competency must be achieved either through normal enrolment or Recognition of Prior Learning.

Credit Transfer

Credit Transfer is recognition for study already completed, which counts towards further study.

If you are seeking credit at Gold Coast Learning Centre, please contact the Manager at manager@goldcoaststudy.com before enrolling to find out the necessary application procedures.
