Please Note: the “Nominal Hours” are not the number of hours of attendance in classes.
Nominal hours include in-class hours, self study, preparation for assessment and Prac Teaching. Various Courses or individualised programs of study will be configured with different proportionsof each of these “modes” of study.
Delivery Plan
GCLC delivers using a flexible and blended delivery approach which combines several delivery, assessment, and support approaches including:
- Initial intensive training during the first week of 3-4 days where intensive delivery of underpinning knowledge is undertaken as well as several short delivery, design and assessment tasks.
- Ongoing monthly training and review days where participants have input to the subjects and materials covered. Participants can attend as many of these days as needed for their individual learning needs.
- Ongoing email and phone help desk support where the participant communicates directly with Trainers/Assessors for flexible tuition, guidance, and feedback.
- Additional 1:1 face-to-face assistance can be booked for individuals where GCLC feels this is appropriate to meet their needs.
- All workbooks which include questions and project tasks with delivery and assessment activities and the development of learning support material for your circumstances.
You will be required to study and understand the material and you will need to achieve certain milestones whilst completing the required assessment work. Should these milestones not be achieved you will be required to undertake certain assessment work in your own time.

Study for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at GCLC is organised into 12 weeks full-time, or 36 weeks part-time.

Entry Requirements
Prospective applicants should be either working in, or have access to a Workplace Learning Environment for enrolment into this qualification.
There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification, however applicants are required to have some industry experience and language and literacy skills that meet requirements (6.0 IELTS or equivalent for international students, or for Australian students, you must complete and pass the GCLC Language, Literacy and Numeracy test prior to enrolment). Applicants should also have basic word processing skills in order to complete assignment requirements for this course.
Outcome
Graduates receive the nationally accredited award Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110).
To successfully complete the course students must receive a grade of C (competent) in all 10 units.
Career Prospects
Pathway includes entry into Diploma of Training & Assessment. You will have a recognised qualification that will allow you to teach in any VET centre including TAFE.
